Because a few of you apparently missed the prior announcements, the Call for Proposals for 2019 has been extended for three more days until the ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐˜๐—ต ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜†. This is your very last chance to get your talk submission in! Do it asap! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@gnome I'm not sure why, but I just see squares instead of a date in your post, as if characters were missing from my font. Except, this font definitely has numbers, so that's weird. ๐Ÿ˜•

@mathieu
They used fucking emojis to publish a date. (Probably, old android user here)

@mathieu @exalm @gnome over here, also on tusky, I have no issue reading any of these.

@mathieu @exalm @gnome if itโ€™s all boxes you may have a missing font installed, or the wrong font configuration fallback for math symbols

@ebassi @exalm @gnome it seems a bit suboptimal if people need to install fonts in order to read a date (well, given the sentence I can only assume it's a date), but okโ€ฆ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@mathieu @gnome and that's the link earlier, no idea how it got clipped

There are lots of characters like that in unicode for normal/bold/italic/both letters in various fonts.

@exalm @gnome I wonder how screen readers and braille displays handle those.

@mathieu @gnome just checked. Not good. After copy-pasting into gedit:

" three more days until the letter one d seven e d letter one d seven f five letter letter one d six zero one ..."

At least it says the letter names one by one correctly: "Mathematical sans-serif bold small t" etc.
