Rust is nice, but I really dislike this "rewrite it in Rust" stuff. It's tiring for any maintainer to be bombarded by this and honestly, as an opinion, some of the projects I™ have seen doing this have lost contributors, some have even been stopped for months.

Community, please create your alternatives written in Rust since it is so urgent, instead of putting this unnecessary pressure on communities already overloaded with demands.

@CleoMenezesJr I am afraid it's unavoidable in a community full of young an enthusiastic people that have seen the light and want to share their newly gained experience. I do not mean that in any way negative, its a human thing to do and I love the enthusiasm all around me:-)

I nagged projects to move to C++ for the security benefits back in the mid 1990s. Never asked anyone to RiiR of course, I am old now.

Funny how the people that did the nagging back in the day are annoyed about it today.

@hunger I agree with the social dynamics and everything that being young implies, but I believe that we should not fail to define them as bad practices in this dynamic. I mean, in any company it is common to see someone come in and want to change the stack, but it is different when it comes to an open source project since the chosen stack shows the maintainer's comfort with it. And of course, asking will never be a problem, insisting over and over again is inappropriate.

@CleoMenezesJr You are of course right, I just doubt it will help.

In my experience it is more promising to remind the old guard of their youth than to ask the young people to be less enthusiastic.
