Bernie Sanders (and AOC), who are running for nothing, just had the largest event Sanders ever had, including both his presidential campaigns.
Change is coming.
@downey@floss.social No, they have had larger, but the mass media at the time refused to report it. - I know, I attended a few.
@irfan@social.lol @downey@floss.social I like Bernie Sanders, I voted for him in every election, but he does repeat that line a bit. -- Actually, the fact that he remains the same, and does not flip-flop, is what I like about him.
@downey I would not say they are running for nothing. Rather, they are leading the Fight Against Oligarchy, and thus For Democracy.
@downey ok, but if “change” is waiting for a 2028 election (that won’t be held anyways), I regret to inform you of your impending doom
@aapis @downey There won't be any change in 2028. Trump wants his 3rd term and he will get it. People who support him are very rich and have too much power. And you can find supporters of Trump all over the world.
Although it's well known (since lots of years) who #Musk, #Zuckerberg and #Bezos are, people go on using their products, specially X, Instagram and WhatsApp.

@downey Bernie has anointed a successor for President. Not for Senate, though. That will be Becca Balint, unless she becomes AOC's VP (and then President herself).
@downey Gaslighting for the Democratic Party again. They can both piss off. DNC is worried all the young people who refused to vote for genocide may never return.

@downey if they can get that many attendees, how about they organize real action? a general strike, anything? if you aren't doing anything that could stop this, it isn't gonna be stopped.
I'm still glad they're out there talking to people and showing some form of opposition, but I agree. They have the mic, they have the attention, I hope they build to the point where they finally lead a movement or action that hits these bastards where it hurts.
I'm cautiously optimistic despite AOC's history of calling Pelosi "mama bear" and the like.
Not pinning all my hopes on this though and going to every protest I can make it to among other things.
@downey I think Washington Square Park had 35K.
@downey make sure you guys protect these two. And Tim Walz, too
