@downey But that isn't a case like this. ActivityPub won't leak data out to threads, so the only data threads could misuse is #threads users data.

@jtb @downey FB/Meta has joined the W3C standards working group for ActivityPub, giving them influence on the protocol. Previously the working group was nearly shut down because corporations refused to participate. Worse, if they do drive traffic, that gives them power to make demands. This is an embrace-extend-extinguish play just like how RSS and XMPP before ActivityPub were successfully hijacked by corporations and then killed.
