#emacs question: I've been thoroughly mediocre at emacs for almost 10 years now. I know there's more out there to know.
What are your tips for getting **a little better at emacs over time?**
Ideally, I'm looking for something a tip-a-day account or an intermediate level blog or podcast rather than a ten-hour video course or a book, but open to whatever.
[boosts appreciated if you have emacs-y followers]
@webbureaucrat Mastering Emacs, the book and the blog.
Work your way though the info manual, a bit at a time.
You’ll find something stick for you and others don’t, that’s fine.
Helpful.el, which-key, and a good completion system (I like vertico with marginalia and orderless) can help discovery. #Emacs
@webbureaucrat I rarely use text editors but the default bash input is wired up with emacs-centric key commands/short cuts. I used to think they were bash-ism, turns out they were emacs-isms.
If your notusing #org mode you better start.
there is also always the system crafters youtube channel (I don't remember his handle on here).

tldr: once you know how to execute elisp on the spot, and read into the code of features you love, you'll passively start learning.
My only 2023 update: ask ChatGPT to write you plugins. Seriously, it sometimes gets it on first try.
@webbureaucrat I sometimes post #emacs things or blog about findings at https://xenodium.com
@webbureaucrat ps. Since you’re looking for short videos/tips https://emacsrocks.com is great if you didn’t already know about it. My favourite episode is https://emacsrocks.com/e13.html (well worth watching until the end).
@webbureaucrat emacs: it never needed to be “improved”
