I was excited to finally go back to the movies last night to see the latest Mission Impossible movie in because I figured it would be a great first movie back for me since covid.
I got to sit through an ad about how movies are meant to be seen in theatres, a thank-you message from Tom Cruise and director about being in a theatre, and other references to how much better movies are in theatres.
Honestly the movie was great but ...

... no, it was not a better experience than watching at home. I have a large screen in my living room and a 4k DLP projector. I have a well-balanced 7.1 audio system and comfy couch. More importantly, I don't get to listen to 200 other people chewing popcorn at home.
How do I feel about my $18.75 ticket to see Tom in IMAX? I should've just waited and bought the movie on Blu-Ray. Better investment. YMMV.

@mikebabcock ... and it's possible you wouldn't be making the comparison if they hadn't brought it up. An anti-advertisement.

@Retreival9096 the going on and on about how great being in the theatre is made me lean over and say to my daughter "I'm blogging about this later now." So yes, exactly this.
