@nat this always reminds me that a "talent" is a unit of measurement of the amount of silver coin that fits in a Roman industry standard amphora, the original meaning of "that guy got his skill via talent" was clearly ironic/sarcastic
@raven667 @nat Wiktionary acknowledges this (https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/talent), and also says the later figurative meaning was from a parable in the Bible (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Talents) where slaves were rewarded for making monetary profit, giving some of it to their master, and being "faithful" in doing so, thus linking money to something good to do...
