M.A.X. (Mechanized Assault and eXploration) is a solo/multi sci-fi tactical strategy game (1996, Interplay), whose particularity is that it can be played in turn-based mode (turn length and adjustable speed) or in real time. The objective is to colonize different planets, to control their resources and to defend its colonies against its rivals. M.A.X.R. (Mechanized Assault & eXploration Reloaded) is an improved engine compatible with M.A.X. 1 data (M.A.X. 2, the sequel released in 1998 is not compatible), and it is also a complete game including its own data. Only multiplayer is supported for the moment (AI and single player mode in dev.).
