One of the issue preventing distros from shipping a / camera stack is the fact that it requires as session manager, which again does not always play nicely with , if that is still used as sound server.

Unfortunately switching to PW for sound is not always possible yet because some mobile-specific packages depend on PA. So if you want to help with camera enablement, please consider helping with issues such as source.puri.sm/Librem5/wys/-/i :)

GitLabpipewire support (#13) · Issues · Librem5 / Wys · GitLabpipewire is becoming more of a thing and some distros use it for other (not wys requiring devices) so we want to support it in wys too so...

@rmader why don't they remove pulseaudio. pipewire is supposed to be a drop in replacement....

@hub See the linked project - in almost all cases PW is a drop-in replacement, but there are a few exceptions.

@rmader Would be good to get some more details on what's missing -- PipeWire provides a PulseAudio compatible module-loopback, and the rest of it seems like standard libpulse client things that should also Just Work

@arun I have to admit that I didn't have a deeper look myself. AFAIK something about wys does not work with PW yet - maybe it just needs a bit of debugging / some small fixes.

So in case you have a device like the librem5 or the (P)PP and would consider giving it a look - that would be absolutely awesome. I'd gladly assist wherever I can, just don't have the cycles to open another project atm. :)

@rmader ack, I don't have such a device and in a similar boat with adding projects to the todo list, but please feel free to holler at me if anything comes up
