Fundraiser Appreciation Thread: Thank you for your support!

We thank every single donor and appreciate every donation we have received. Every € will be used wisely and will help support KDE contributors in their task of creating the best Free Software for the whole wide world.

kde.org/fundraisers/yearend202

The fundraiser is not over! We want to reach €70K by the end of January, but we would like to start acknowledging all those who have adopted KDE apps and made our community's job easier.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Wow! I am nowhere in the posts! I am offended! /j

Jokes aside, i am a proud user of KDE apps. uwu

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Thank you all for making this incredible software suite, you deserve all the love ❤️
This fundraiser initiative was a very good shot, well done!

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social So many people are sleeping on #Okular
it's insane how many capabilities it has. Such an underrated application

@thibaultmol @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I totally agree. We even use the #okular part in #RKWard. Okular is really great software.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I could imagine if this is multi touch compatible, on a touchscreen laptop would be really cool

Cue KRuler maintainers wondering about the spike of downloads they haven’t seen in like 15 years.

@Bro666 You could say that the app..
.....
Krules!

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is it possible to have centimeters too on the ruler? Can do that by asking the size of the monitors, i think.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social One of the biggest reasons why I love KDE. Being able to do easy local network file transfers is so nice.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social

Many thank for accompanying me on my linux journey since 2018!

@kde@floss.social @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social this may be a loaded question, but when will we see KDE on mobile? I dream of the day when, whatever device I pick, even if it is someone else's or a loaner from the hotel, I sign in and all my stuff is there, familiar and ready to use.

Web-based is almost there, but I'd rather it worked like KDE 😼

@teledyn @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social

Plasma Mobile works quite well:

plasma-mobile.org/

In other news, many of KDE's apps are convergent, meaning they work both on desktops and mobile platforms.

@kde@floss.social @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social

I see on the list of supported devices that my old Samsung Tab A T350 is a likely candidate for #postmarketos although without any camera. It's tempting, but I would first want to know if it is indeed any faster than it was in android 7, or at least no slower 😅

@teledyn @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social

Note that Plasma Mobile is still an experimental system. Your mileage will vary A LOT in many areas.

@kde@floss.social @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social

Oh, I know, but we've been waiting for this for hundreds of years! 😅

@kde@floss.social @teledyn @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social

At some point, I would like to see a #Bazzite version using Kinoite Mobile's image. I think Plasma Mobile would be right at home on my Steam Deck and Lenovo 2-in-1 Tablet.

@teledyn @kde@floss.social @DaisyLee @petejones @kde@lemmy.kde.social i've daily driven Plasma Mobile for over a year and during this it has improved a lot in many areas. Overall speed could be slightly better, but definedly not slow.

My experience has been only on Oneplus 6, though.

For me, UI is the best I've ever used on mobile.
