We have more apps for you to adopt!: Kasts, Labplot, Filelight and Konsole

kde.org/fundraisers/yearend202

You can adopt Kasts, a very cool and full-featured podcast application which works both on your desktop and your phone:

Or maybe you want to express your support for @LabPlot, a data analysis and visualization tool ideal for research, education, science and business:

You could also sponsor Filelight, a utility that allows you to visually monitor usage of the storage on your computer:

Or choose Konsole! KDE's classic terminal emulator that has dozens of tricks up its sleeve that make working on the command line easy, fun and productive:

Why should I use Konsole instead of another terminal Emulator?

As in what are the differences? Or what does Konsole do better or different?

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I love Konsole and all its features but the missing GPU acceleration is a blocker for me 😢 bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4

@phasslr @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is text rendering too slow though? I don't notice any difference between Konsole and Wezterm, which uses OpenGL, and I use neovim with tons of bells and whistles.

Maybe running a terminal benchmark would give us some data to discuss. I did it some time ago, but I can't find the results right now (I'm on a plane).

@codewiz @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I exclusively used Konsole for several months but after trying out Kitty I wasn't able to go back anymore. It is noticeable for me in neovim but really hard to pin down what makes it 'feel better'. Any suggestions for real-life-like benchmarks?

Je m'en suis déjà servi, c'est génial et en plus intégrer à Dolphin, super cool 😎

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social its useful, but it feels much worse than it was before...looks like so many useless operations, no caching, and actually less readable graph

@nictakiego @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social What are your objections and suggestions?

May be I can just work on it.... File a bug report?

Can you kindly list them?

@soumyadghosh @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I already forgot old filelight and its features, but as I say, that experience was better than this one currently. I will try to find/install old filelight then give you feedback. Aah how unlucky just recently i removed clonezilla image containing it.
