KDE

This week in KDE: we modernized the breeze cursors, created a new banner component and released a "KDE For Travelers" webpage.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social is the KDE Itenerary app on the Google Play store still being updated?

@brucehankins @kde @kde@lemmy.kde.social We'd love to update it but Google isn't allowing us to do that anymore since early 2022, due to Itinerary being able to store vaccination certificates.

@VolkerKrause @brucehankins @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social And having that as a compile-time option not shipping that feature in Google builds?

@sneufeind @brucehankins @kde @kde@lemmy.kde.social That would probably work. However it would require our infrastructure to be able to produce separate APKs (and separate metadata with separate translations, as we aren't even allowed to mention that topic), which it currently cannot do unfortunately.

That just goes to show that we really need to get rid of the Google dependency in our life. F-Droid, Plasma Mobile, all great solutions that really need more mainstream use.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I was never a fan of the other breeze cursor. This looks clean 👀

@kde Darker Breeze cursor?? Yessir! I'd love to see the Breeze global theme get dsrker too, it's grey now, not dark!

I know changes are almost always optional, I know Breeze cursors might still be available, and I know designs can change. So I am here to say the new cursors are beautiful and I hope they look good with the new plasma 6, but I love the current Breeze cursors, they have certain magic to them. They will always be in my heart.
