Did you know that isn't only informing you about with anti-feature warnings, but also removes non-free trackers from apps?

On Google Play many FOSS apps contain non-free trackers. That often enough prevents apps from getting into the official f-droid.org repo. So may apps provide a build flavor without non-free dependencies for F-Droid.

@fdroidorg To be a little more specific. Non-free (aka proprietary, aka the opposite of free and open source) software is not allowed on the official f-droid.org reposiory. Most trackers are non-free. That's why they violate our policies and have to be removed, or they would prevent an app from getting published. FOSS trackers are allowed, but will be tagged with the tracking anti-feature warning. However, those seem to be rather rare.

@fdroidorg This only applies to apps from F-Droids official f-droid.org repository. On 3rd party repositories all bets are off! (Basically all F-Droid compatible repositories other than the one provided by our team on f-droid.org) Apps in those can contain trackers or worse and may also omit setting appropriate anti-feature warnings.

@fdroidorg
I didn't know.
Thank you for your work. For a more free digital world.

@fdroidorg About informing I was aware, but not about removing trackers. Very nice feature. Thank you very much for it! 👍😊
Btw. It is very bad that lots of devs are literally forced by gogle to implement some google's nasty code into the apps just to being able to publish apps in their play store. Something like this should be outlawed and defined as illegal in most of the civilized world. In the whole real world forcing someone to something is a criminal act prosecuted by law.

@fdroidorg who is removing them? The author because you will block the release or will they not get compiled on your build-machines automatically?

@fdroidorg I really appreciate how extensive the "anti-feature" lists are, even if they're usually fairly redundant to me. It's a nice of supporting those who only want to use free, private software, while not getting in the way of those who are willing to compromise on proprietary web services, dependencies pulled from Google Play, etc. so long as it fits their use case.

@fdroidorg I've been using your apps for about a year now and I absolutely agree that your apps are more lightweight have better things about them such as no water marks they're free and lack malware that happens to be on the Google Play Store. I've been recommending your store to many of my friends here where I live and on other apps that I use. GREAT JOB F-DROID 👍

@Ohyeah1 @fdroidorg

I'm using F-Droid since my beginning of using Android... without F-Droid i might still stuck to an old feature phone...

Thank you very much, F-Droid team and all developers of free software!

@nick @fdroidorg I AGREE 💯 F-DROID ROCKS❗Wish more people used the app and more people shared. As a matter of fact I'm going to share now.

@nick @fdroidorg I'm really new here, but I guess the geeks 🤓 come out at night.

@Ohyeah1 @fdroidorg

Somewhere on this planet it is night at any time... ;-)

@nick @fdroidorg Without night how do you have moonshadows?

@fdroidorg Wasn't expecting you to reblog my comment, but thanks. >sudo wtf
