If you buy a $200 product on sale for $100, you didn’t “save” $100, you spent $100. If you bought it on impulse just because it was on sale, you also wasted $100.

@dallin Agree. But there are probably (edge?) cases where people depend on discounts and special offers because of their financial situation – afaik coupons are a huge thing in the US. I see it as it privilege to be able to buy stuff as I need it (still doing some price research, ofc) and not earlier, and mostly ignore such "events".

If you actually need the product that’s different. You’re still spending (not saving) money, but it’s not wasteful if you are being intentional about it.
