„Otwartoźródłowy”. Naprawdę? NAPRAWDĘ?
Nieeee... Proszę, nie używajcie tego słowa.
I woke up this morning from this dream: I was in the city with my son, visiting a professor. When it was time to go back 'cause it was getting really late, I found that the train station is full of soldiers, trains are not running, most probably a war had just broken, and I'm stuck with a 6-yo some 30 km from home at night.
I realized how unprepared I am for such a scenario. My EDC pack wouldn't really help me much. I think I need to go back to square 1 and rethink it.
I finally got some time to carefully read @Gargron 's note on trivial #ActivityPub server: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/06/how-to-implement-a-basic-activitypub-server/.
Good stuff!
Getting my programming fix: #racketlang script to generate #conlang vocabulary.
Reclaiming RSS
“Before Twitter, before algorithmic timelines filtered our reality for us, before surveillance capitalism, there was RSS: Really Simple Syndication … As we move away from the centralised web to the peer web, it’s time to rediscover, re-embrace, and reclaim RSS.”
I wanted to learn Racket this year (already started, in fact), but it seems I would need to work with some Go code sooner rather than later. I don't think I have the bandwidth to learn two languages at the same time. At least not to the extent I consider "knowing a language".
Off to Kraków to have a beer with colleagues from the new workplace.
I'm trying to wrap my head around ActivityPub. Is there a good plain English explanation?
This weekend feels way too short.
adding a new NPM module to a project
It's a cold day today, and I need to go to Kraków again. Third time in two days.
I write open source software because:
- I enjoy programming,
- I need/want a particular thing to exist,
- once I have written it, I might as well share it,
- maybe someone will even find a bug or pick it up and maintain it.
And not because:
- I want anyone to make money on it,
- I want to defend anyone from anything,
- I want to be rich and famous.
Just think about it like playing an instrument — it's fun to do, and even better when done together. But I don't sell albums.
Just as I was falling asleep last night I had an idea for a terminal-based ebook reading app. Quick search only revealed `goreader`, which is a tad to simple for me.
Oh, I know. Because I asked it not to notify me about anything at night. I outsmarted myself. 😀
Oh, man, why Mastalab is not notifying me of interactions on this account? Bummer!
Hello!
My previous instance is no more. Here's my next shot at my Mastodon presence.
I'm a developer, I have contributed to some FLOSS projects, and since last week I work in a open source company.
