Are you experienced with GTK and Rust ?
We are looking to contract someone to work on the new GNOME Password Manager
We want it to become a core/default app and help secure millions of users.
You'll be working with the GNOME Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to building emancipatory technologies for everyone.
Please send resume / portfolio to stf@gnome.org
Boosts welcome
You can find some details here https://gitlab.gnome.org/sophie-h/key-rack/-/issues/7
The backend is oo7, a new Secret Service provider for the #freedesktop https://github.com/bilelmoussaoui/oo7/
Amongst others, you will be working with
@sophie Key Rack maintainer
and
@dhanuka oo7 contributor
@sonny
I am working on a GTK/#Relm4 password manager already
But it is a client for #BitWarden/#VaultWarden only.
You want to build a local one?
I added some details https://floss.social/@sonny/112196164164814893
@sonny I would love to apply, but I don't think I have the time :(
(Nor would my imposter syndrome allow it :))
Happy to see more Rust adoption though
@FineFindus don't let the imposter syndrome hold you back
But yeah otherwise, for a job you need time
@sonny Ohhhh, very neat! Is there some kind of design document/feature document?
E.g., sync support 0:-)
@sonny April 1st, the first Monday after the `xz` incident, is perhaps a bad day to post a job working on a security feature
@vt52 why?
@sonny I would hope that you're also including experience writing secure S/W. IMO that's the most important criterion for working on a password manager (and no, I don't qualify for any of the criteria.)
@sonny I know of one Jia Tan, he's pretty good with open source and critical infrastructure I hear and he's looking for a new gig
@sonny That sounds like a super interesting project to work on!
@sonny
#getfedihired is a useful tag to add!
@jalcine
@sonny We might be able to help @mainmatter – let's have a chat some time this week with you, me and @algo_luca ?
@sonny would love if it has support for #keepassxc file format .
