Wow, that has blown up. I posted it just before going to bed thinking that a few people may like it, woke up and it has 400 boosts and 800 favorites.
@sesivany I can cope with a little proprietary software on my system, just not in my kernel, so nVidia can get lost.
@diffrentcolours @sesivany With Nvidia moving to open kernel drivers, that part isn't going to be an issue for long.
But what would really make a difference is if they moved to the same kernel driver as Nouveau. (I guess like AMD proprietary drivers do.) Then I believe it would be possible to use the open source drivers to render your desktop, but run a particular game or application with the proprietary driver, in a sandbox.
@ids1024 I'd love it if GPU drivers became fully open source, all of them, nvidia and AMD and all the others.
Don't hide in that corner, Broadcom!
@diffrentcolours @sesivany a little proprietary software. As a treat.
@sesivany But it's true! Bog damn it just bought an AMD graphics card because i grew so Bog damn tired of trying to get Nvidia to work with Linux.
Fedora installed.
Stable Vulkan shader use shall now commence.
@sesivany
Where my music plugins at?
@sesivany hmm, interesting. In my instance, I see 3 boosts and one like of your post. But when I open the original page, I see all these 400/800. I have to learn how federation of these numbers works.
@mirek it's a known issue, this data doesn't get fully synced. I don't mind much. I either find the post worth boosting or favoriting myself or not, don't necessarily need to know how popular it is.
What I mind more is that even comments don't get fully synced, so you often only see part of the conversation.
@sesivany you are simply popular
@sesivany but I've been told no one uses Mastodon.
@sesivany I don't like having proprietary software on my glorious machine but I also really really really like playing Project Zomboid
