🇬🇧 Yesterday, the regulation on was adopted by the EU Parliament: a sad day for all those who rely on free and confidential communications and advice, including abuse victims and press sources. This is how the Parliament’s groups voted:

@abloo Yes, the whole thing is beyond ridiculous.... These measurs only impact legit users of secure communication (everyone), while pedophiles and terrorists won't certainly flinch about using software purposefully violating such legislation to keep planning and committing crimes...

The fact that traditional media did not really inform the public on these matters and that entities outside EU will be handling the total surveillance data are just cherries on top of this unbelievable decision..

@abloo It's also a pity that the EU division of @eff or twitter.com/edri also missed to be active on this matter! 😞

They are busy on other parallel campaigns on , but I did not fidn any coverage on this matter before or after the vote.

A more informed and active public opinion might have had some inflience on the MEPs and commission.
