What desktop email client do you guys use? I've been using #Thunderbird for years but I find bloated and the search is pain to use. Any recommendations? Needless to say it has to be libre.
@rgggn been using Kmail since I use Plasma, but Evolution seemed good to me when I used Gnome awhile back. Couldn't get Geary to work with my email provider (I use Protonmail w/ the IMAP Bridge).
@rgggn I use NeoMutt. I would recommend checking out Offlineimap and Notmuch as well.
@rgggn elementary Mail for me, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you've got lots of eMail you need to manage.
That said it works great for me!
@rgggn I use and love Geary. Decided I want to help them along with getting PGP support recently.
@brainblasted @rgggn does Geary do EDS now? Every time I use Linux I end up using Evolution so I can use Exchange; which if a mail client other than Evolution did EDS...
@brainblasted @rgggn yeah, I kinda conflated EDS with GOA; the question remained the same anyways.
next time I turn on my test machine, I'' load up Geary and see if it recognizes the Exchange account in GOA.
@brainblasted @rgggn I thought Geary stopped development.
@blanklupo @rgggn nope, Geary is actively developed.Just migrated to the GNOME Gitlab too.
@rgggn
Thunderbird is great. I use it.
@rgggn I use Thunderbird. Autocrypt/enigmail is the main reason.
@rgggn ClawsMail seems to be working well for me.
@rgggn I use evolution. I wouldn't say it's slow, but it does take a while to check for mail. And the advanced search function is confusing to me. But I still use it nonetheless.
@rgggn Evolution has my personal account and I use Thunderbird for work but, more often than not, I use Roundcube. I know that's not a desktop client but it might meet your needs if you give it a shot (with the right plugins). Geary is okay if you have uncomplicated requirements.
@rgggn I'm looking forward to KDE's Kube to get more stable, and integration with PIM
@rgggn
I use TB. Claws can't communicate with cardDAV and evolution has zero support for #rtl languages. And #Thunderbird seems snappy enough since I stopped using gmail.
@rgggn try https://github.com/astroidmail/astroid
it is amazing :)
@rgggn mentioning "recommendations": may I recommend checking with https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/ ? Make an account (if you don't have one already on SE), open a new question, and make sure to include all your requirements (incl. features, OS, FOSS). Expect good and matching recommendations (even if you might have to wait a little for them pouring in).
