I recently noticed this instance and I need to show my appreciation and join the club :)
I'm a graphic designer and I always loved all things libre. I have been use to work with many free graphic tool but never made the leap of switching 100%... until this month!
I was forced to buy a new laptop (due to my mac's rustiness) and I finally did it! and the transition wasn't difficult (but then again I always had other computers on the side running linux)
Stay tuned for updates
@downey definitely! 32 G ram ddr4; latest processor from their options i7 8th generation; 500 ssd NVMe; hidpi; no additional storage; WiFi 867 MPS;
For my work ( which really goes outside of 2d realm) I was concerned mostly with great memory and ssd speed. And it kinda flies :D opening the save book design on Mac was kinda slow, now it's funny how fast it is.
@downey oh and it is a Galago Pro
@downey which rarely goes outside of 2d realm
So far here is what I like on the hardware side:
very portable 13'' with del; Home; PgUp/PgDn; end keys and a ton of output ports and there is a key to make the camera disable to all programs/services
On the software side: #pop_os has been a nice experience
Stuff I discovered: #Mailspring is beautifully simple, best client I ever used; #sk1 illustration program from Ukraine for print world; #Freeplan for mindmaps; #Simplenote is markdown and mobile ready;
#linux #floss #OpenSource #design
@pedro Safe to presume you're happy with #System76 so far? What model/specs? Have been thinking about hardware lately.
