@omgubuntu Good news, but only partially. Users of fully libre distros like Trisquel or Parabola still can't use this for much, but at least it gives a framework for Nouveau to actually finish building a libre driver for newer Nvidia cards

@csolisr @omgubuntu please help me understand why those distros can't use these drivers when they get merged? It isn't a binary blob by that time, so what is the problem?

@RyuKurisu @omgubuntu The core driver is free software indeed, but the pieces required to make 3D acceleration work are still proprietary

@sunsey @omgubuntu ага, тільки там всі клієнтські бібліотеки залишаються пропрієтарними. І ще мені цікаво, чи не пов'язаний інцидент з тим, що раніше хакери злили початковий код драйверів й обіцяли викласти їх в публічний доступ, якщо NVIDIA не зробить їх опенсорсними...
