Introducing Tumpa 0.1.0 release, a desktop tool to create #OpenPGP keys & upload/write them into smartcards (say Yubikeys
). All by just clicking. https://kushaldas.in/posts/introducing-tumpa-to-make-openpgp-simple-with-smartcards.html #privacy @tails
@dajbelshaw well, that blog post is a bit disingenuous, isn't it? "Everything wrong with password managers and the holy grail DPG".
Yes, storage is an issue. And so is relying on proprietary services. So far, so good.
But then: "master pw compromised = lose trust". Well, DPG/lesspass suffers from the exact same issue. As soon as the one secret phrase is known, all your passwords are compromised. It's called deterministic for a reason.
I've enabled showing Mastodon comments on my #blog, thanks to @carl for his example!
The terrible privacy of Facebook apps, visual edition. Blogged. https://reb00ted.org/tech/20210102-whatsapp-vs-signal-privacy/
Loco-Motive is a great little point and click adventure with "pay what you want" pricing, about 30-60 minutes of playtime, LucasArts vibes. Available for Linux. Recommended for fans of the genre:
this is a good point. the UK (and US) governments are in an obvious state of failure and self-contradiction, but we're also at the tail end of a decades-long war of propaganda and oppression designed to make it impossible to conceive of mass action as a solution to anything
Biked around Boston this morning. They did the annual ice sculptures for NYE, but spread around this city. This one was on our usual route.
This one is a lighthouse, and it has a little light in it! If you put your ear up to it, you can hear a tiny Willem Dafoe talking about his lobster cooking in a vintage new england accent.
Hi @downey - can we get an emoji added for ? Thanks!

Do you read all the terms of the accounts and services you sign up for? What?! Are you crazy?! (That's to either response.)
Check out TOS;DR and review the stuff you use.
Engagement with the #Linux development community works! I submitted a feature request for a macOS-like "Stacks" feature in Desktop Icons NG (Gnome-shell) and one of the projects contributors created it.
What a beautiful community.

Mind. Blown. Reading about how the effect of feedback delays on otherwise simple homeostatic systems introduces oscillations in the system state due to a minor change, and connecting this back to the complexity science idea of the “period doubling route to chaos” where the increase in the number of stable states in a periodic system bifurcates until the system becomes chaotic, and it is apparent how a simple functioning system can quickly “blow up” due to small perturbations in its conditions.
