With just $16k let to go in the match I'm reminded that silly gimmicks don't usually work for this kind of fundraising. In the past I thought of ridiculous ideas - a letter to a loved one, thanking them for the time that the donor spends on free software (like as a holiday present!), performing a new software freedom song,...
We once gave away a bottle of wine signed by wine developers! (they're mostly beer drinkers though)
What is the silliest or coolest thank you gift you could imagine?
@karen omg I love the wine signed by wine devs, that's brilliant
Bongos signed by the bongo devs! Boxes signed by BusyBox! Etherpad branded notepads! Inkscape stationary! A mercury thermometer from the Mercurial project! Samba lessons with the samba devs!
STUFFED EMU FROM QEMU
It could also be fun to offer a 30m chat with maintainers from a SFC project of choice but that's not very silly....
@ehashman Why am I not surprised you are just brimming with ideas????? Now I really want a stuffed (Q)emu.
@karen at linux.conf.au 2010, we had wine where the vineyard used Inkscape to design the label. Which we thought was pretty cool. The wine was also very tasty!
