You have so much expertise, I hope 🙏 you'll find that staying us is a happy experience for a little longer. 😇

With your help and advice we can collectively become more knowledgeable and care for forgefed in a way that will make you proud. ✨

@forgefed serious question: why not #xmpp for chat?
Does matrix have some benefit over xmpp?
@KitKat @forgefed haven't used matrix a good long while. what is "decentralised rooms"? in xmpp anyone from any server can join any group chat ("room"?) on any server?

@falgn0n @forgefed in matrix a room (can be a 1-1 chat, groupchat, space, etc.) doesn't belong to any individual server. Control and history is distributed among all servers that have people in the room.
It's also robust against servers going offline randomly and coming back online later or never, as well as mailicious server owners

@forgefed (This was on my birthday! :D )

(What a great birthday ~~present~~ thing to happen X3 )

I do hope this works! The lack of this is the only thing keeping me from hosting my own server and not relying on GitHub!

(Although I still plan on keeping my repos on it and having a merger daemon thing with GitHub (and possibly hosts) as a secondary repo mirror for people who want to interact there :> )

And if I use a Java version of something like Gitea, I'll write a Java implementation of ForgeFed using JGit someday if this really comes to life :3

@forgefed Oh snap wait! It already exists?

They use the word "federation"! Is this ForgeFed or something else??
