Dictionaries, in computer science/programming. Ordered by key/insertion order or not?

Q: does anybody have a great resource for really learning GraphQL? I've been using it for a few years super on and off, but I always feel like I'm hacking stuff together.

(would a huge, multiple days long, GitHub outage change our minds?)

Even Apache Software Found. doesn't want to run their own git infrastructure 😞

Not huge fan myself, but I really really hope chooses as its official replacement. They kickstarted Talk as a Disqus competitor (now that's with Vox Media); it'd be great if one of the more promising tools would get a 2y funding through them as well. Unfortunately the open messenger landscape is so fractured and immature atm, that I'm a bit pessimistic overall 😕

I just learned that #Mozilla will abandon #IRC. In general I think it is a good move to look for something more modern. I'm curious what they will chose at the end. For me the three main qualities would be: #free (aka Free Software), #decentralized & #open (aka open protocols) exple.tive.org/blarg/2019/04/2

Shall we do another #NameAndFame Friday? There are many free and/or #opensource software makers that deserve a shoutout.

This week I'd like to name #Jitsi Meet, a nice opensource videoconference tool, available via browser, on mobile and there's a desktop (Electron) app as well: github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet-el

You can use Jitsi Meet or set up your own Jitsi server. The best part is that you don't need an account to create or join a conference.

Who would you like to boost for #NameAndFame Friday?

🤡 Cool thing I just found out is possible in HTML. No practical use, just fun.

can someone recommend a FOSS desktop client for mastodon not using Electron an not being commandline based?

also: Postman’s wannabe-funny startup screen (slooooww) is annoying.

A colleague commented my switch from Postman to Insomnia with: “For me, Postman is close to perfect software.“ — And I would almost agree, it’s doing its job pretty well. But for me the marketing-first website of PM and the closed development really started to bother me. Insomnia may not be as rock-solid yet (although I haven’t found any show-stoppers in my daily work) and I wish it had a larger group of contributors, but it freed me from “vendor lock-in fear” and that alone makes it worth it.

I'm ashamed of being bitter for such a small thing but ASCII art gaining such a traction again in popular social networks bothers me so much because (1) it never works with my accessibility settings and (2) I always struggle to understand what message people are trying to convey

I feel left out

Anyone use any software for cataloging postmortems?
