@downey I guess mine aren't the fancy kind of spying Bose headphones, as they just have an audio jack.

@lufthans Yeah as I recall they steer everyone to use their apps to configure, share music between multiple headphones, download firmware updates, receive notifications, and integrate with devices "smart assistants", etc.

@downey ah, I only allow headsets to have bluetooth access and usually not even to the address book when the connection is a phone

@downey
I assume that's only possible if you have their app, though, right?

@downey Haha "audio frequencies auf sound around you". This is just "environmental data", nothing special...

@downey There is a choice in Bose Connect app (on by default, I don't think this is legal in Europe).

@downey Oh.. "Bose kann trotzdem Daten in Verbindung mit Push- oder App- Nachrichten, die wir Ihnen senden, oder Daten von Ihren verbundenen Bose- Produkten sammeln, wie in unserer Datenschutzrichtlinie angegeben. " -> "Bose may still collect data in connection with push or app messages we send you, or data from your connected Bose products, as stated in our Privacy Policy. "

@downey Par for the course unfortunately, and Bose is not the worst offender in this space. Sony and Samsung request significantly more data via their apps, which are naturally the only way to access firmware updates. Samsung even insists on full notification access for non-Samsung Android devices before opening the door. Waiting for it to get more media attention, ticking time-bomb.
