:covid19: They are taking some but not all of the necessary precautions from so I will be attending the free-of-charge virtual option, which you may want to do as well.

The stream covers some event content via their proprietary SaaS provider. You do have to register so your (real or fake) personal data can be monetized by sponsors.

And here's the direct link to Sunday's workshop day on and

It sounds like people who can't participate physically in-person are only allowed to "watch" the video feed and are not fully included. Also sounds like they're doing an alcohol hour afterwards.

Anyway there will probably be some interesting talks at least.

2022.allthingsopen.org Inclusion & Diversity in Open SourceAn open source conference for everyone

Going right along with their theme of proprietary-only conference platform and Zoom keynotes this year, not a single social media platform linked from the official conference site.

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr (!), and Slideshare.

🤦🏽‍♂️ Corporate folks will never understand their hypocrisy.

Um, I own my email address, and have for 20+ years, and so can others. They are not centralized.

:opensource: 🤦🏽‍♂️ Watching the opening keynote of the conference , the organizers urged attendees to download the event's mobile app "from any app store".

Seems like they didn't bother to submit it to the only app store on my phone, @fdroidorg -- most likely because they produced a proprietary event app instead of using one of the many available options.

:opensource: 🤦🏽‍♂️ And apparently doesn't support participating with operating systems or browsers, either.

@thatonecalculator

Eh, good people and good content, but the logistics are a super disappointment.

Which is unfortunate because they always produced a really lovely and thoughtful in-person event.

@downey

Time to fill out that anonymous comment/feedback card

@thatonecalculator

@downey really?! Wow. That's absurd. Hypocrisy much? @murph

@downey @murph I'd raise the question whether they should rename to "SomeThingsOpen" 🙊 💨

@downey Like hosting a vegan conference and only having meat as dinner options...

@SylvieLorxu @downey It's just what a bunch of carnivores who were pretending to be vegan for ulterior reasons would do... funny how that is...

@downey @murph to me that's the most egregious one so far. Doesn't run on the latest Firefox???

@CodingItWrong @downey It runs fine. It just fails the pre-check.

@CodingItWrong @downey On top if it, I had to dig a bit to find that pre-check, they didn't particularly push it.

@downey @fdroidorg Ouch. I was peeved when I was at a Dell conference and couldn't participate in some things without Google Play or the App Store, but this is ridiculous. Practice. What. You. Preach. #AllThingsOpen
