How long have you been involved with / ? (If you consider yourself having been involved!)

Β· Β· 7 Β· 19 Β· 10

@downey had I counted "moved to linux and started playing around" as being "involved with open source, I could have answered > 10 years ^^

@silmathoron
BTW, submitting a bug report should also be considered "involved". Testing and submitting reports is a necessary part of suggested development.

@downey

@yuki @downey definitely! but I was doing no such thing at the time ;)

@downey What do you consider "involved" to be? Using or developing?

@Hyolobrika Whatever best describes when you felt that you really embraced the idea. For some that's using, for some it's development.

@downey

Probably very much a self-fulfilling prophesy answer cluster will come from this poll. Too bad no 5th option (not a FOSS user).

(of course, that disregards just about everybody using Apache, etc. as they reach out to the Internet for their daily fixes of proprietary games, etc.)

@Algot

so, the wording doesn't quite fit but yeah "never" could go into the <1 year category

your second point is bang on: nearly everyone who uses networked computing devices is using FOSS, even if they don't know exactly what

everyone answering a poll on the fediverse? can that even be done *without* FOSS?

@downey

@downey 22 or 23 years. not sure exactly when my first upstreamed patch was, but somewhere around '98 ish.

@downey hey, thank you very much for the nice poll, Mister Admin.
