I still use Firefox and other Mozilla products but I just got this email from Mozilla:
"We’re in the final days to reach our goal of raising $4.35 million USD from the Mozilla community. We’re close, but we’re still short."
I just want to let them know their CEO probably has $4.35 million USD since their salary a few years ago was about $7 million USD. Maybe ask them?
@rasterweb i wont ever give mozilla a single cent as long as their ceo gets one cent more than the workers.
They break the rule: those that pay, choose.
They are laundering intent, washing away the wishes of users and spending money while disconnecting and disempowering the people who should be at the heart of free software. People.
i.e A callous silly-con valley bs factory.
@doctormo @haui @rasterweb Just like all the other ones.
@doctormo @haui @rasterweb Mozilla employees need to unionize, fire the management, and start their own fully and permanently nonprofit entity to run Firefox, similar to how Thunderbird is now.
@dalias @doctormo @haui @rasterweb There's a lot of assumptions in here. If their goal is to make the best browser, and they're no longer associated with Firefox, why would they keep using that codebase? That's a decision putting them ten years behind the competition.
@stilescrisis @dalias @doctormo @haui @rasterweb
> That's a decision putting them ten years behind the competition.
No it is not. That is an odd thing to say
@worik @stilescrisis @doctormo @haui @rasterweb Yes it's a completely nonsensical thing to say. Starting from scratch is what puts you "N years behind the competition". Or if they meant "just copy Chrome for the Nth time" that just makes you completely irrelevant. Nobody wants another rebranded Chrome
pretending to be an alternative to Chrome.
@doctormo @haui @rasterweb Google and pocket are paying, too.
