I'm in two minds about my #inkscape raster shape builder tool being highlighted by Logos by Nick
Firstly he said it was revolutionary. And seems genuinely impressed
But didn't mention me by name as the creator. So I get no credit, or possible links from people who might follow by videos or join my Patreon. Is this impolite of him?
The comments are also a bit irritating as they claim "they" are working on cmyk and all the other stuff I work hard on. Who is this magical they? And can they code?
@doctormo Have you ever reached out to him? He likely has no idea who does what for #Inkscape.
It might be fruitful to "team up" with him:)
I've pointed this out for many other projects -- take a page from #blender and talk directly with experienced artists, they can give the most valuable feedback.
@davidrevoy did so much for the #krita project in exactly this way.
@doctormo Yeah, talk to him, he seems nice :)
I can relate to your feelings though; I had the same as a pioneer of my kind of sewing tutorials in Inkscape, and for a while they got very popular, and there was even a podcast, where it sounded like 'oh, people just figured it out!'. Well, no, _Marta_ spent weeks figuring it out, because I knew nicht about vector graphics at the point too, and converting techniques from paper isn't obvious.
But yeah, I said nothing...
@doctormo I don't blame you for feeling how you feel, it happens. But it's a symptom of something dangerous setting in: if it's no longer enough to be part of a team effort, if personal recognition and credit become more important, the project will suffer.
The project culture has always been to represent us as project, not as individuals. So no, Nick was not being impolite.
@rdh
But the inkscape project is not the single project that enabled this development. Its also @doctormo s project of enableing user funded, paid work. So this is not even about personal recognition.
I agree that they should not be consider as competing each other. But we need both projects and it would only be fair to acknowledge both projects.
@doctormo OK, maaaaaaybe Nick feels like you're very busy for team-up or affiliate programs. One of you two certainly needs to reach out. I'm excited for your collab!
