Due to some intense peer pressure (and procrastination of more important tasks), I resuscitated one of my masterpiece: the KNOME website, the perfect fusion of @gnome and @kde
You can now enjoy it again at https://knome.carlschwan.eu/ #kde #gnome
For the context, this was a nice collaboration between GNOME and KDE for the April joke in 2020 :) https://medium.com/linux-plus-plus/the-best-of-both-worlds-knome-176f19202769
It's now using Hugo because I couldn't get Jekyll to work again and figured out it was faster to just port it. Also this is on a new server because my old burnt years ago https://www.reuters.com/article/us-france-ovh-fire-idUSKBN2B20NU and the original domain expired.
@carlschwan
Hugo being good at internationalization, would you like me to make your joke multilingual?
@jibec sure, I just need to not hardcose the strings in the template anymore but this is easy to do.
@carlschwan
I'm not sure, let me see the code, I'll tell you
We had so much fun with this.
@hubert Thanks fixed :)
@carlschwan @gnome @kde hi, Carl, this reminded me so much to Pasi Lallinaho, Xubuntu developer, who had KNOME as nickname as well as domain name. This is amusing, thank you.
@carlschwan @gnome @kde download now!!!!
@carlschwan @gnome @kde Nonononononono. No. Just no. Please God no.
@carlschwan @gnome @kde I'm not gonna lie, this was one of those April fool's jokes where it didn't register in my head that it was April fool's day, and I thought this was legit. (at least the part about them making a joint DE) Literally didn't know until a few months ago when I thought "I wonder if they're still working on that"
@carlschwan @gnome @kde
I downloaded it and LOVED it!
SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT! XD
