microsoft has begun charging for github copilot. fuck this

i don’t really know why github copilot makes me so mad except that it is an unimaginably large theft of labor value and an astonishing way to perpetuate artificially low development costs. we need unions and we get the scabbiest possible scab tool for scabs


Does anyone actually use it for real work? I would think the copyright issues and the complete lack of evidence of correctness would scare everyone off.


@suetanvil @garbados I know people who love that it learns their work-specific boilerplate.

Personally I think this driver to use it indicates poor choices elsewhere! But it can easily crop up in a corporate setting...

At least I don't see the point of Copilot for most of my work...
