Is there a way to boot a #linux distribution on a flash disk while running a normal host on that computer?

I mean we can run a full-desktop distribution, or even two, on another desktop distribution with #virtualbox. Why shouldn't I be able to boot another distribution from a flash disk? 🤔

Does such a thing exist?

Dualboot is just too inflexible and the portability aspect would be very cool. Either boot that disk standalone or a guest on top of another Host-OS...

@aslmx I did exactly that using a regular qemu command line. I installed many GNU/Linux desktops on flash drives.

@ademalsasa That sounds interesting. How does that work with display then? If you run virtualbox, then virtualbox takes care of that 🤔

@ademalsasa I wasn't aware.
Gonna have to give this a closer look Thanks for pointing me to qemu.
