(25th June) OpenSource software and Sanctions. This is an important topic of discussion which none of your 'oh-so-cool' pimps aka dev-rels, evangelist and such XYZ hero's would discuss. While MIT, ASL, BSD license may seem like unilateral declaration of love for freedom and free labour, Sanctions, Embargo, Foreign Direct Product rule (FDPR), export controls is the real raw rough deal. This is even more problematic since we are having a 'single currency', 'country-of-origin' lockin in technology. In simple words, if you are located in a sanctioned region or country, you can't use OpenSSL, Apache Webserver, Docker and such. Or one fine day, the Burger Bumpkin decides that he doesn't like you anymore, you are sanctioned. Forewarned is forearmed !
