Converting an old Windows Point-Of-Sale device to Android 14 in under 10 minutes, with #noMDM needed (secure SSHD & VNC baked in)
Who'da thought
@electrikjesus Hey, cool – with Neo Store pre-installed and thus direct access to the #IzzyOnDroid repo right after the first boot, yay!
@IzzyOnDroid I put neo-store in all of my projects ;)
@electrikjesus that will make Toni very happy I guess. I've just dropped him a note
A bit belated I remembered the device you presented was x86 based, right? So it seems then there's more to that architecture than emulators and Android TVs. How far spread is x86 concerning Android, to your experience? At IzzyOnDroid, we currently focus on the ARM architecture (that is, when an app is too large, we ask for split-ABI and take ARM*), and usually skip x86-only stuff. Might need to adjust?
@IzzyOnDroid how far spread? Well, between Bliss OS and Waydroid, we had about 10M downloads last year. Half the battle over the years has been educating the public on how easy universal/split APK support could be
@electrikjesus Oh, we should use our synergies there. Maybe have another "call" to talk about your education (material) there? We're setting up documentation and hints here where we can refer developers to. Good instructions on specific topics (like split-APKs, where I only have rough notes on) are always welcome. You can see the "developer best practices" and "reproducible builds" sections in our wiki on what we already have established: https://gitlab.com/IzzyOnDroid/repo/-/wikis
@IzzyOnDroid we don't produce materials, only point to Google documentation on the subjects, and advocate for Android x86 equality
